18.1. Annual Awards
18.1 Our Annual Awards are held at the conclusion of the season. This night is for committee, players, coaches, umpires, managers, life members, legends and sponsors. The cost of the dinner is included in your registration fee. It is a night of awards and recognition and provides an opportunity for the club to come together and celebrate the season.
18.2. Club Awards and Criteria
18.2.1 Awards are presented to registered HNC members who have shown outstanding dedication and commitment to our club over many years of service. A high standard has been set for each of the award’s criteria. Receiving a club award is considered an honor.

18.2.2 Awards and trophies are presented at the end of season Annual Dinner.

18.2.3 Listed Hamersley Netball Club Awards:
18.3. Life Membership
18.3.1 The Hamersley Netball Club Life Membership is an honour bestowed upon those Club Members who constantly give of themselves over a long period of time. Life Membership is not awarded to a member lightly and to be eligible a candidate must have been affiliated with the club for a minimum of 10 years. View the Life Members Honour Board.

18.3.2The three ways of earning Life Membership are:
  • Committee Member Only – minimum 10 years service
  • Combination Committee Member (5 years minimum) and Coach – minimum 15 years service in total – E.g. Committee Member 8 years and Coach 7 years
  • Combination Committee Member (5 years minimum) and Manager – minimum 15 years service in total – E.g. Committee Member 6 years and Manager 9 years. Please note; Assistant Coach, Apprentice Coach, Assistant Manager and Umpires do not accrue any years of service towards this award.
18.4. Autoparts Toyota Legends Award
18.4.1 In order to reward players for long service and loyalty to the club, the Hamersley Netball Club Committee created the Autoparts Toyota Legends Award. This award recognises the time and commitment made by a club member both as a player and representing Hamersley Netball Club. View the Legends Honour Board.

18.4.2To achieve HNC Legend status a player must meet the minimum criteria and accrue a minimum of 500 points.
Minimum criteria to be assessed:
  • Minimum of 10 years service
  • Minimum of 150 games played
  • Minimum of 4 years Head Coach of a team – or
  • Minimum of 6 years Umpire Mentoring – or
  • Minimum of 6 years Committee

18.5. Autoparts Toyota Coaching Hall of Fame
18.5.1 Inaugurated in our 40th year, HNC have created the Coaching Hall of Fame award. View the Coaching Hall of Fame Honour Board.

18.5.2This award has been created to recognise long serving commitment to the club by a coach.

18.5.3To earn this award the recipients have had to commit themselves not only to Hamersley Netball Club but to their own coaching development and to the wider netball community at Association, Region or State** levels.

  • Minimum of Intermediate Accreditation
  • Minimum of 10 years coaching service to HNC

18.6. Lyn Pemberton Medal – President's Award
18.6.1 The Lyn Pemberton Medal is awarded to a club member who has shown commitment to the Hamersley Netball Club beyond what is expected.

18.6.2 The current Club President selects the recipient of this award.

18.6.3 The President’s Award Criteria to be considered:
  • Committee Member – performing duties above and beyond their Duty Statement
  • Coaching
  • Managing
  • Association, Regional or Netball WA duties
18.7. Player Game Award
18.7.1 All players who play 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 and 350 games are awarded the Player Game Award. To reach these milestones demonstrates years of commitment to the Hamersley Netball Club. View the Top Milestones Honour Board.
18.8. Coaching Excellence Award
18.8.1 The Coaching Excellence Award recognizes the tireless efforts made by our volunteer coaches. This coach has made sacrifices and shown dedication the club and their team throughout the season.

18.8.2 The HNC Development Unit selects the recipient of this award.

18.8.3 The Coaching Excellence Award Criteria to be considered:
  • Attend and assist with grading of the club
  • Consistently attends training and games
  • Actively contributes to their own coaching knowledge and education
  • Attaining Netball Australia Coaching Accreditation
  • Displays a high level of sportsmanship and leadership skills
  • Represents the club at Association, Regional, State or National level
18.9. Umpiring Excellence Award
18.9.1 The Umpiring Excellence Award recognizes the outstanding efforts an umpire contributes to the club on a weekly basis.

18.9.2 The HNC Development Unit selects the recipient of this award.

18.9.3 The Umpiring Excellence Award Criteria to be considered:
  • Attend and assist with umpiring during grading of the club
  • Consistently umpires for the club on a weekly basis
  • Actively contributes to their own umpiring knowledge and education
  • Attaining Netball Australia Umpiring Accreditation
  • Willingly picks up umpiring duties for the Umpire Development Coordinator
  • Represent the club at Association, Regional, State or National level
18.10. Monica Holton Sportsmanship Award
18.10.1 The Sportsmanship Award is for a player who has displayed a variety of quality characteristics and has positively represented our club throughout the year.

18.10.2 Any current club member can nominate a player for this award.

18.10.3 The HNC Development Unit selects the recipient of this award, after nominations have been received by the membership.

18.10.4 The Sportsmanship Award Criteria to be considered:
  • Often displays unselfish qualities and puts the team or club before their own personal gain
  • Displays tremendous sportsmanship on and off court to team, opposition and officials
18.11. Janine Birkett Rising Star Award
18.11.1 The Rising Star Award recognizes a player 16 years and under who has shown commitment, dedication and professionalism and whom the Committee believes will play an important role in our club for many years to come.

18.11.2 The HNC Development Unit selects the recipient of this award.

18.11.3 The Rising Star Award Criteria to be considered:
  • HNC Apprentice Coach
  • HNC Assistant Coach
  • HNC Coach
  • Attended coach education forums, seminars
  • Attained the Netball Australia Foundation and or Development Coach Accreditation
  • Represented HNC at an Association, Regional level in coaching at either TACT, WDNA School Holiday Clinics, Junior Warriors, WC Cadets, NWA Sub Junior clinics
18.12. Vickie Carstairs All Stars Award
18.12.1 The All Stars Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution made to the club by an Open Player in any one year. The committee will select up to 7 Open Players each year in recognition of their assistance and giving back to the club.

18.12.2 The HNC Development Unit selects the recipient of this award.

18.12.3 The Vickie Carstairs All Star Award Criteria to be considered:
  • HNC Player
  • HNC Committee of Management or Sub Committee
  • HNC Coach, Assistant Coach, Apprentice Coach
  • HNC Umpire
  • HNC Manager of a Junior or Sub Junior team or a Senior team at opposite game times
  • HNC Volunteer to WDNA, WCNR, NWA committees and workforce
18.13. Courage Award
18.13.1 The Courage Award is for a club member who experiences tremendous adversity; however still finds a way to contribute to the club.

18.13.2 Any current club member can nominate a player for this award.

18.13.3 The Committee of Management selects the recipient of this award, after nominations have been received by the membership.

18.13.4 The Courage Award Criteria to be considered:
  • A member who has been struck down with illness however still manages to perform duties
  • A member who has sustained a severe season ending injury and has maintained contact with the club and actively worked within their capacity.
18.14. Players' Player Award
18.14.1 In 2016, HNC introduced a Players' Player Award. The award is not intended as recognition of a team’s best player, but as an award for the best team person as voted by their peers.

18.14.2 The Players' Player Criteria to be considered:
  • Team Player
    A player who does the right thing by the team. It might mean, for example, they are asked to fulfil a certain role, play in a position they are unfamiliar with or not normally in or play in a certain way. In essence, they play for the good of the team, which may even possibly be at the expense of their own game.
  • Inspiration
    A player who raises the morale, the spirit and / or the energy of the team. They inspire the team to do better.
  • Time Skilled
    A player who always attends training and is always on time for game day.
  • Game Sense
    A player who regularly does the right thing at the right time.
  • Attitude
    Encouraging of others during training and playing.
    Shows respect to coaches, management, team members and other teams.
    Turns up when injured with an attitude of helping the team (if possible).
    Lets coaches know if they were unavailable.
    Accepts feedback and responds with positive approach.
  • Character
    Assisting / helping with training.
    Good role model on and off field.
    Participates in wider club roles outside team if and as required.
    On time, has her gear and is well organised.
    Willing to learn / coachable.
    Has the respect of team mates.
