The Marie Little OAM Shield is a national competition for females aged 16 and over with an intellectual disability. Congratulations and good luck to Zenda Cocivera in her role as Team Manager and Kimmy Smith as Training Partner. Another amazing member played her 150th game yesterday! Adrienne Lang played a legendary game at GS, shooting the lights out with 31/36 shots at 86%. Adrienne is also a coach and a committee member of the Publicity & Media team. Congratulations on your 150 games with Hamersley Netball Club, we can't wait for the next 150!!

WDNA's Net Set Go program run by new development officer Sarah East has been a great success. Hamersley have recently received an email congratulating Sarah on a very well run program and we are proud to say that many of the coaches involved in this program are from our club.

Hamersley Netball Club is very excited to announce its partnership with Bayswater Physiotherapy, to deliver a holistic athlete centred Physio - Welfare Model. Whether it’s a rolled ankle, serious knee injury, niggling back ache, or an issue you just can’t put your finger on, Hamersley members will have access to high quality and highly experienced professional physiotherapy to ensure they are looked after and back on the court as quickly as possible. Calling all bakers or anyone who likes to cook or anyone who can't too. We will be holding a fundraiser cake stall on the WDNA veranda on Saturday 5th August. As we were unable to secure a spot for the Bunnings BBQ this year, this is a great way for us to fund raise for our club. All members will be asked to supply whatever they can in the way of cakes, cupcakes, biscuits, slices or even items for a raffle will be greatly appreciated. We will be requiring volunteers to man the stall during the course of the day from 8am till approx. 2pm, all parents, caregivers, grandparents and children welcome (children must be accompanied by an adult). Even the half an hour you may be waiting before your daughters game will be of help and players an hour before or after your game - bring the team down. For those Senior members that selected the Bunnings BBQ for your senior commitment you are expected to be available to assist at some point during this day. Please contact Mel Hunter with your preferred timeslot. To all other members please contact Helen Pope with a time that you would be able to assist. Baked items will need to be dropped off on the day at a time to be advised. Raffle items can be dropped off on Tuesday 1st August at training so the raffles/hampers can be packaged up. There will be further information coming out about this fundraiser soon.

Please ensure you are all aware of the WDNA Wet Weather Policy and the policy regarding forfeiting of games. Unless there is dangerous weather or lightning in the area all games will go ahead as scheduled. To get the latest weather and game updates always check WDNA's facebook page first. Netball is a winter sport and the conditions are the same for all teams competing on the day. Arrive with a smile on your face and be prepared to play.

This weekend is the Netball WA 2017 Mental Health Awareness Round. Our netball club is a safe place for our members and a place where we can look out for each other. It is vital that we have awareness at our Club to be able to identify if someone is struggling with their mental health and know how to talk to them about this and offer help if needed. While the focus of the Mental Health Awareness round in 2017 is depression, the overall aim of the round is to speak about mental health in an effort to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. The BIG message is #LetsTalk - there is always someone you can talk to if you think you may need some help. Mel Hunter will be giving teams 1-14 a roll of BLUE tape that must be worn at Saturday’s game on your right arm.

Interested in learning to umpire? Then why not register for the July School Holiday Clinic. The clinic costs $60 and includes two half days full of both theory and practical aspects. This is highly recommended for all non-C badged umpires. WDNA also offers umpire training, coaching and development resources for all association clubs and their members.

Play by the Rules is a national organisation that promotes safe environments for children in sports, and is launching a 2017 campaign Let Kids Be Kids. We held our first No Limits Netball training session on Tuesday 4th April. Both players and coaches had a great time with lots of fun. No Limits Netball is a fantastic opportunity for males and females with an intellectual disability aged 11 and over to engage with the sport of netball, meet new friends and play in a safe environment as part of a team. Our club uniform suppliers Victory Athletic in Balcatta are open for uniform collections and try-ons every Friday from 3.00pm - 5.00pm. Victory Athletic will be at our SUPER6 event on the 4th April and will have all stock items available for sale. There will be Eftpos facitities available on the night. Pre-ordered uniforms, ‘Named’ warm up shirts & custom made dresses do take 6 weeks and may not have arrived by the 4th but will be here before the 1st game of the season. Victory Athletic will contact you once they have arrived. To order the ‘Named’ warm up shirts Victory Athletic have to submit a minimum of 10 shirts. If you haven’t already placed an ordered there may possibly be a long wait. Please contact our Uniform Coordinator Kym Wood if you have any questions.

The first Hamlet of the year is now available! This edition includes information on our new partnership with Warwick Leisure Centre, our SUPER6 night and some fantastic achievements within our club! A copy can be found on our Resources page.

Parents meetings will be held on Tuesday 21st March. These meetings are compulsory and at least one parent must attend. All meetings will be held on the grassed area near courts 8 & 9. 11&U, 12&U and 13&U meeting will be at 6.00pm
15&U and 18&U meeting will be held at 7.00pm This meeting is an opportunity for you to be introduced to members of our Committee and for us to give you as members an overview of our expectations and also of things happening in our club this year. We look forward to seeing all our members and parents at these meetings.

SUPER6 is a pre-season fun competition being held on Tuesday 4th April from 4.45pm until 9.00pm. Apart from having fun, the main aim is getting members to know other members of the club. Visit our SUPER6 page to find out more.

No Limits Netball is a fantastic opportunity for males and females with an intellectual disability aged 11 and over to engage with the sport of netball, meet new friends and play in a safe environment as part of a team.The program involves a weekly training session and optional participation in a statewide carnival in June as part of the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships No Limits Division. The Parent Liaison Officer is a volunteer role provided to Hamersley by Leanne Newland, a Clinical Psychologist who specialises in working with children and adolescents. The role of the Parent Liaison Officer is to provide a confidential space in which parents can gain support, advice or guidance in regards to their child, any issues that may be impacting her ability to enjoy her time playing club netball and is independent from the HNC Committee. If you would like to discuss any issues of concern Leanne will be present at most training sessions from 6.00pm or can be contacted here. Playing a team sport is enjoyable and fun but we understand that it can also trigger other issues such as anxiety that may need support.

Please put Tuesday 21st March in your diary as this is a chance for you to hear from our Committee and ask any burning questions you may have. We strongly encourage at least one parent per family to attend. Further details TBC.

Club training will commence on Tuesday 21st March and every Tuesday until the end of the season. Times vary depending on age groups and these will be announced when teams are listed on the website.

Our club uniform suppliers Victory Athletic in Balcatta are open every Friday from 3.00pm - 5.00pm and will also be holding a uniform morning on Saturday 11th March from 9.00am until 12 Noon. If you require a custom size dress we recommend you visit Victory Athletic as soon as possible to be measured before 11th March to ensure delivery prior to season start. Custom size dresses are $20 more than regular sizes. Jackets and personalized warm up shirts with surnames only on the back are non compulsory items and not held in stock, if required orders must be placed on or before 11th March. Victory Athletic will also be at training on the 4th April and will have all stock items available for sale. Please contact our Uniform Coordinator Kym Wood if you have any specific questions. When we announce the teams we will also be announcing the coaches for each team. Once these coaches are appointed, they along with the Team Manager will be your first point of contact for any queries. Trials for 11&Under, 12&Under, 13&Under and 15&Under will commence on Sunday 5th February. Trials for 18&Under and Open will commence on Tuesday 7th February. Trials will be played at the WDNA outdoor courts. All trial dates and times can be found on our Calendar. Players are to wear a white shirt and black or navy netball skirt or sports shorts to all trial sessions. Appropriate netball shoes to be worn. Hamersley Netball Club registrations are now closed and we cannot accept any late applications. We do recommend you visit our website at the end of the year as this will give you the dates of registrations for 2018. We wish every player the very best in their netball for season 2017.
