Semi Finals
Congratulations to all teams that have made it through to the Semi Finals on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September.
Out of our 26 teams this season, 21 have qualified for finals and our 11U Team has finished top of the ladder. What a fantastic result!
Hamersley is very proud of all our teams and their efforts. We hope that everyone was able to learn something from this challenging season whether it be growth as a player or life skills for the future. We look forward to seeing you all back stronger than ever for 2021.

Hamersley's Values
As we approach finals let's take a moment to reflect on Hamersley's Values: Belonging, Respect and Professionalism.
These values together with our Code of Conduct apply to all members whether they be players, parents, umpires, coaches, managers or committee.
Even though this has been a shorter season, it has meant so much more work for both WDNA and our Hamersley committee who have been working tirelessly in the background throughout. Our coaches and managers have gone above and beyond this year and we are extremely appreciative of their efforts.
We thank our parents for the patience and understanding shown this season and appreciate the frustration felt with spectator restrictions especially during finals. We ask that you continue to show your support and respect.
Let's all work together for a successful finals series.

Leadership Session for 2020
On Sunday 30 August we held our Leadership Session for 2020. We were lucky to have Kara Antonio captain of the AFLW Freo Dockers come in to present. We brainstormed what are the two most important values in a leader and why, and also discussed how to build resilience in yourself and your team.
Kara is a great inspiration for our leaders to look up to, and provided some practical tips that the girls should be able to apply to netball and life in general.

The Belt Up Message
Hamersley is proud to promote the Belt Up message and has received 5 Belt Up balls for each of our senior team as part of Netball WA's partnership with the Insurance Commission of Western Australia.
Every year, hundreds of people who are killed or seriously injured in car crashes in WA will not be wearing a seatbelt. That could be your teammate, your friend, your brother or your sister. The Insurance Commission wants to reduce these numbers by making sure every senior netballer knows the risks of not wearing a seat belt.
These Belt Up branded balls serve as a reminder to everyone to Belt Up at all times.

#HNCHomeProgram Social Media Competition
Congratulations to the winner of our #HNCHomeProgram Social Media Competition Caitlyn Gillespie from Team 26! Caitlyn has won a $200 voucher to spend at Rebel Sport.
Caitlyn’s post was a fantastic example of participating in Hamersley’s Shooting Hub program at home. The chalk markings on the ground were a great visual representation of working through the program shooting cards. Caitlyn was dressed in her full Hamersley uniform and had an inspiring caption that supported the club’s initiative to bring everyone together when we were apart through our Home Program. Caitlyn also tagged Hamersley’s Instagram and used the Home Program competition hashtag.
We are immensely proud of all our members who participated and kept the Hamersley spirit alive amid COVID-19. You are all a wonderful example of the Hamersley way, to “be the best you can be”.

2020 WDNA Fixtures
The 2020 WDNA Fixtures are now available via MyNetball. We also have a link to the fixtures in our Quick Link section. Select Season '2020' from the dropdown menu to see the current fixtures.
As we are playing netball in Phase 4 there are important rules and procedures that we must all follow:
  • Game Day Procedures - Only arrive 10 minutes prior to commencement of your game. All Hamersley teams will be playing their games on the top courts so all members will ENTER GATE 2 and EXIT GATE 4, gates will be clearly marked and you must strictly adhere to the enter/exit signs on these gates.
  • No Spectators - There will be no spectators for the next few weeks. We encourage parents to escort their children to and from their court. Please do so quickly so that the coach can get in a quick warm up before the game begins.
  • No Canteen - There will be no canteen for the next 2 weeks, but bottled water will be available for purchase. We suggest you bring at least 2 full bottles of water from home with your name clearly marked on them both.
  • Umpiring/Playing or Coaching/Playing - If you have back to back commitments e.g. umpiring/playing or coaching/playing you do not need to leave the court just move to your next allocated court. We suggest you do so in a timely manner to facilitate the next games.
It’s been a long haul getting back to netball. Let’s enjoy this moment and remember to always show our respect to gate volunteers, umpires and WDNA officials.

Hamersley's Plan
Hamersley is suspending all netball activities including training, matches and meetings until 26 May 2020. Currently Netball WA have recommended that the Winter Competition be delayed to 30 May with club training to be postponed until the week immediately prior to the commencement of the season.
On or before 18 May, we will let our members know whether club training will recommence on 26 May. We will continue to monitor advice from the Federal and State Governments, and Netball WA and if the club needs to, we can amend our position at that time.
This decision has been made on the basis that it conforms with the Federal Government's advice to implement social distancing (maintaining 1.5m between each other whenever possible). We believe it is not possible to implement social distancing whilst playing netball in a team environment (including training, scratch matches, gym sessions and meetings). In addition, Hamersley is concerned for the well being of our members, in particular those who are more susceptible to COVID-19, such as those over 60 years old or those with underlying health conditions.
In order to support members during this time, the club will be launching an on-line home program (shooting, footwork, balls skills, strength and conditioning) so that players can take the opportunity to build on their physical competencies and individual skills.
We encourage you to keep checking the Hamersley website and social media platforms for ongoing updates. Thanks for your understanding and continued support. We would appreciate you giving the club time to work through the issues as this situation evolves.
The club is aware that some members will have concerns regarding membership fees. We will be able to advise on this matter once additional information is received from WDNA and Netball WA.
We would like to remind Hamersley members not to contact WDNA or Netball WA directly regarding this situation.

Training Cancelled
Hamersley has made the decision to cancel netball training and all other events on Tuesday 17 March including No Limits Session 1 and Compulsory New Parents Meetings. This gives the club the opportunity to gather more information on the situation. We will provide an update next week via email, as to whether training will commence on Tuesday 24 March or not.
We are taking advice on the COVID-19 situation from the Commonwealth and State Governments as well as Netball Australia and Netball WA.
Information on COVID-19 is available from a large number of sources, however we recommend that all members refer to advice on the Netball WA website as it contains useful links, as well as netball specific information.
If you fulfil any of the criteria that requires you to self-isolate or obtain medical attention due to suspected/confirmed COVID-19, it is imperative that do not attend any netball commitments until it is safe to do so, as per the advice on the Netball WA website.
