Congratulations to Sydney Rafferty on achieving her 150th game milestone. Sydney embraces the Hamersley Netball Club culture and has made lifelong friendships with those who she has grown up with at Hamersley. Sydney is in her 11th season at Hamersley, having played in nine grand finals, taking out the premiership six times and runners up on three occasions. Sydney’s success as a netballer is apparent with the numerous association teams, development academys, state squads and WANL teams that she has been selected for. There isn’t enough room on a Facebook post to cover all of her netball successes, but Sydney has come a long way since that young girl who hid around the corner from Lynni to take her shoes off and who raced to the canteen for her pre-game pie or sausage roll. Thanks, Sydney for being part of Hamersley Netball Club, you are a true role model to those around you.

Serian Lockwood-Jones joined Hamersley Netball Club in 2014. We knew she had the potential to become a good netballer once she connected the top half of her body with the bottom half! We also very quickly worked out that Serian was much more of a defender than a shooter. From that very first game Serian went on to play at TACT, Metro League and WANL. In 2022 Serian was selected to travelled to Tasmania with the WA State 17U team finishing 5th. Serian always plays the game with a smile on her face and is constantly supportive of her teammates giving them lots of encouragement both on and off the court. Serian on behalf of the Hamersley Netball Club we all congratulate you on your 150 game milestone and look forward to many more years of your association with the club.

Congratulations to our very own Clara Wigley! Clara & her Fast5 Commonwealth Games Youth team have secured the GOLD medal, defeating South Africa 39-29. Clara & her teammates had an undefeated tournament that was held in Tobago. This is an incredible achievement and Hamersley Netball Club couldn’t be more proud of you Clara.

Congratulations to Harriet Hughes & Maisie Wilders who competed at the 15U State School Girl Netball competition this week. The WA team finished 5th overall. Well done girls.

What an amazing Grand Final day for the Comets yesterday, Saturday 15 July. They had maiden victories in both of their GIG WANL Grand Final matches, Open Women and 20U Women. A spectacular double Premiership!!

On Saturday 6 May we held our annual Hamersley Netball Club fundraiser Cake Stall. Despite the rain and cold wind, we were kept very busy, especially between games, serving the hungry netball families. We were inundated with a fantastic range of cakes, slices and snacks from our members, which was awesome, and we thank all those who dropped items down to us for sale. We would also like to say a massive thank you to all our stall volunteers - the stall would not have been such a success without you. The time you gave us was really appreciated, and we loved the fun you all brought to the stall. We are happy to advise that the cake stall raised $1790 for the club, which was an incredible effort. The club would also like the say a BIG thank you to our amazing Leanne Spivey & Victoria Dawe for your dedication and commitment each year to ensure the Hamersley Cake Stall is such a huge success, you are an awesome team!

On 10, 12 and 13 July Curtin Hamersley Comets will be holding an indoor School Holiday Netball Clinic at Warwick Stadium. Monday is SOLD OUT, but there are limited spots on Wednesday and Thursday. With a team of high performance and accredited coaches coordinated by netball royalty Lyn Pemberton, and Comets players joining in the fun, this specialist coaching clinic is the perfect environment for girls and boys aged 6–16 (separated into age appropriate groups) to develop their netball skills through drills, game sense and match play and experience what it's like to train as a Comet!

During the July school holidays, WDNA will be running a number of umpiring workshops which have been designed to suit a variety of skill levels. These are available to all WDNA clubs and their members, whether you just want to earn some extra cash on game day or if you aspire to follow the Netball WA Umpire pathway, WDNA has something for you:

After a great season and an undefeated Division win for the Hamersley WDNA team at Association Championships, our No Limits members would like to invite all Hamersley players, coaches and supporters to join them for their final session of the year when, they will celebrate being a part of the Hamersley family: Tuesday 27 June

WDNA Courts No Limits players will be dressing up in Hamersley colours and inviting family and friends to play a scratch match with rolling substitutes. Teams wanting to join before or after their training session are more than welcome to come in and out! This will be a great opportunity for mainstream players to get an understanding of the No Limits Program and to continue to take steps to becoming an inclusive club where we live our values of belonging and respect for all. Huge congrats to the incredible Shae Fitzgerald for reaching the impressive milestone of 150 games! Shae's journey with Hamersley started back in 2013. Since then, she has not only demonstrated her incredible shooting abilities, but in 2019 she also assumed the position as an apprentice coach. With her signature spin and jazz hands, she's a true icon on the court. Shae's calm and composed presence, along with her effortless grace, makes her an absolute joy to play with and a reliable option in any game. Over the years, Shae has developed close relationships with many of her team members; to many, she is a lifelong friend. Shae, cheers to you!

Huge congratulations to Nicole Fevre for achieving 200 Games. Nicole joined Hamersley later in her netball journey in 1993. She quickly became the team’s sharp shooter, capable of putting the score on the board from all over the goal circle. Since becoming part of Hamersley Nicole’s two beautiful girls have also become players. Chloe in 2016 and Brooke in 2019. Having her daughters playing in the same club gives Nicole a great deal of happiness. Along Nicole’s Hamersley path she has won the players player award in 2017 and played in four premiership winning teams. As well as being a player and a mum Nicole has volunteered many years of her time on the fundraising committee. Here’s to seeing Nicole in the Hamersley colours for years to come!

Have you spotted a Hamersley player demonstrating qualities of excellent sportsmanship or tremendous courage? The Sportsmanship Award is awarded to a playing member who displays excellent sportsmanship, models the club’s values and/or represents the club positively. The Courage Award recognises a member of the club who experiences tremendous adversity; however still finds a way to contribute to the club. Congratulations to Clara Wigley on her selection into the Australian FAST5 netball team. The team will be travelling to Trinbago to compete in the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games. This is an amazing achievement and one that Hamersley are extremely proud of!

Well done to everyone who trialled, you should all be extremely proud of your efforts. The championship will be held in Perth in July/August.

Victory Athletic are excited to announce that they will be moving to a new location so the last in-store opportunity at Unit 4/12 Mumford Place will be Wednesday 24 May from 3-5pm. After this date Victory Athletic will be operating an online only service model until mid-June via their website. All orders will incur a shipping fee. Collection will be unavailable in the short term whilst they relocate. The opening date of the new look ‘VA Team Store’ at 26 Ledgar Road Balcatta will be announced as soon as they are unpacked and refreshed. As this will be during the quieter months of sales, they will not be open for recurring Wednesday trading but instead will be operating by appointment only. Very exciting times are ahead for Victory Athletic and they anticipate having a Team Store ‘Open Day’ before the 2023 finals series starts (date still to be confirmed). Congratulations Sienna Birkett for achieving 150 games! From being one of the youngest players to start at Hamersley and without doubt the youngest to achieve her 150 games, Sienna is a quiet achiever on and off court who is the ultimate team player. Sienna embodies all of Hamersley’s values and will be an amazing contributor to the club in years to come, especially as her ability to analyse the game is beyond her years already. Sienna is an inspiration for all that she has achieved in her ongoing netball journey. We're looking forward to seeing you play many more games.

Our cake stall fundraiser will be running on Saturday 6 May at the WDNA courts from 8am - 2pm. We will have EFTPOS available! We would love all members to assist the club by cooking up a storm in their kitchen and donating any baked goodies such as cakes, cupcakes, biscuits and slices. If you are not keen on cooking or short on time, pop down to the supermarket and pick something already baked for you. All donations will be greatly appreciated. If you are making items that are gluten free or are allergy friendly, can you please label them as such. We will also be running a Lucky Dip so all donations are welcome. Beauty sets, tea sets, candle sets, perfumes, coffee sets, garden sets, bath oils, puzzles, kids toys, kitchen sets etc. It’s a great time to pass on those unwanted gift items, re-gifting with a purpose! Please drop off donations on Saturday anytime after 8am to the shelter opposite court 8. If you cannot make Saturday you can drop off on Friday at Marmion. We still urgently need volunteers to help run the stalls, all players, parents, caregivers, grandparents and children are welcome (children must be accompanied by an adult). The 2023 National Netball Championships will take place in Darwin 11-16 April.

Starting on Wednesday 1 March our uniform suppliers Victory Athletic will be open every Wednesday from 3-5pm until 24 May for players to purchase uniforms. Their address is Unit 4/12 Mumford Place, Balcatta. If you cannot make this allocated weekly window please contact Victory Athletic to make an appointment. Orders can also be placed online via their website. For new players to the club the compulsory items are the club dress, club short or long socks, and navy booty shorts or briefs. Other optional items are available.

• 12U and 13U are not required for Grading
• 15U rescheduled due to TACT clash

Tuesday 28 February

• 15U and 18U Grading 5:30 - 7:00pm

School Sport WA netball trial nominations forms are now open. Please follow the links below if you are interested in getting involved: Interstate 12U Netball is open to girls and boys turning 11 or 12 years as of 31 December. Interstate 15U Netball is open to all girls who are aged 15 years and under in 2023.

Our first Grading session is on Sunday 12 February. Here are a few important reminders to help you come prepared and ready to go:

• Jewellery removed (not taped).
• Nails cut short and smooth.
• Appropriate netball shoes to be worn.
• Players are to wear a white shirt and black or navy sports shorts or skirt to all trial and grading sessions.
• All players need to bring enough water to get them through each session. We also suggest bringing a small towel.

No Limits Netball registrations are now open! We invite males and females with an intellectual disability aged 11 and over, to join us in making new friends and playing Netball in a safe environment. We would also like to invite coaches, who have professional experience in the disability/inclusion space to join our enthusiastic coaching team. Committee of Management nominations for 2023 will close on Tuesday 24 January at 5pm. However, you will still be able to volunteer for a Subcommittee position or show an expression of interest after this date!

We have limited spots available across all positions in 15U, 18U & Open. Registrations for new or former members will be open until 9pm, Wednesday 25 January.

Have you registered yet for WDNA's 2023 TACT program? All athletes are encouraged to do so. Trials will be held in February/March 2023 for any WDNA affiliated player. Successful athletes will then represent WDNA at the Fuel to Go and Play Association Championships held over the June long weekend.

Well here's your chance to act, we are looking for coaches of all levels from those with no experiance who want to start their journey, to already accreditated coaches. An exciting Subcommittee opportunity has become available as our current Social Media guru Hayley Butler will be stepping down for the 2023 season. If you are interested in running our Facebook and Instagram channels, we would love to hear from you. Don't worry Hayley will still be around to help you settle into the role. Hamersley's 2023 Committee positions are now open. Nominate for a Committee of Management role or volunteer for a Subcommittee position! Every good club has great volunteers. Parents of our junior members are expected to assist the club through the year and becoming a Committee Member is just one of the great ways you can help us. Open players can also accrue HNC Legend points by volunteering as a Committee Member. Any member that has other skills not covered in our current Subcommittee roles are encouraged to contact our Secretary to see how they can help with running of our club. Nominations will close at 5pm on Tuesday 24 January.

Hamersley Netball Club will be holding its 2023 AGM on Tuesday 31 January from 7 - 7:30pm. The meeting will be held in the WDNA Meeting Room at Kingsway Sporting Complex, Spectator Drive, Madeley. 2023 Committee positions will open on Wednesday 4 January.
